![]() ![]() ![]() Trimble’s vocals-heavily harmonized, auto-tuned, and synth-backed- glide over the strings in an Imogen Heap esque style and croon “Sweetness, suspend me in crystal.” I don’t quite know what it means, but it sure sounds beautiful. ![]() The song commences with an orchestra, giving the track an all-but-morose aura that is entirely disparate from the peppy lead-off track. The drum machine thuds louder than it ever has and a synth, rather than a guitar, provides the main backdrop for front-man Alex Trimble’s vocals.Īfter the “Changing of the Seasons” keeps the listener’s foot tapping, the following track, “Crystal”, entirely alters the mood. The chorus sounds vaguely akin to that of Beacon’s lead-off track, “Next Year”, but the production of the track is much more prominent. The title track leads off the 3 song EP (it also contains a third party remix) with driving beat that is most simply described as the vintage Two Door Cinema Club sound. On September 30 th, 2013, Two Door released an EP entitled Changing of the Seasons, and let me tell you, it’s something to get excited about. The latter may be in for a pleasant surprise. While some fans were completely content with the band’s relatively complete stasis, others wanted a new dimension to their sound. ![]() However, despite the undeniably catchy tracks like “Sleep Alone”, “Next Year”, and “Sun” that Beacon boasted, the album showed only marginal amounts of improvement and maturity in overall sound. So when the trio released their sophomore album, Beacon, a long two years after, fans rejoiced in the wake of that signature chorus-driven style, the one that made Tourist History so successful. These energetic anthems found their way onto video game soundtracks, car commercials, and the like, and people grew hungry for more Two Door Cinema Club. When Northern Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club released their debut album, Tourist History, back in 2010, the world was enthralled with their explosively catchy 4-chord dance rock tracks such as “Something Good Can Work” and “What You Know”. ![]()
